OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
AN AUTUMN SHOW (To the Editor) Sir, —From the breeders and exhibitors’ point of view the decision of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society to hold an i autumn show is to be commended. At '■ the same time it is most disappointing that the Masterton Society rejected an offer by the Wairarapa Society for the free use of its grounds at Carterton for an autumn show. Those patronising the forthcoming Carterton show would undoubtedly have patronised the show had it been sponsored by the Masterton Society. I understand the Masterton Society is paid a fixed rental for the Solway Showgrounds by the Public Works Department and were a show held anywhere any profit made would be taken off the Cental. Did that prevent the society from showing? A reduction in rental for grounds which were used to train men who are now fighting in the Pacific would be a small sacrifice to make. Rather than furthering the breeding of better stock it would seem that the Masterton society is furthering its finances.—l am, etc., C.J.C. Masterton, November 23.
