WOMEN’S DIVISION COMPETITION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final meeting of the year of the Pahautea Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was presided over by Mrs Ross. It was decided to hold a gathering early in the New Year in aid of the funds of the newly acquired rest home. The competitions resulted as follows: —Fancy plates: Mrs Ross, 1; Miss Frew, 2. Flowers: Mrs Beattie and Mrs Grant, equal, 1; Mrs Welch and Mrs Carter, equal, 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Welch and Sadler.

RED CROSS SOCIETY MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the general committee of the local sub-centre of the Red Cross Society was presided over by Mrs Sharp. It was decided to hold a party at Mrs Riddiford’s residence. It was reported that cigarettes, fruit drinks and face cloths had been sent to soldiers in hospital, and fruit and books to sick members. The following goods were dispatched to the centre last month:—Three face cloths, 7 jug covers, 6 handkerchiefs, 6 pairs of pyjamas, 13 long-sleeved pullovers and 1 sleeveless pullover. In connection with the first aid examination, two seniors and five juniors sat, all passing. In the senior section Miss Belle Currie and Mrs J. Halpin passed and in the juniors Mesdames Carey, Lonie, E. O'Neale and Renton and Miss A. Johnson. Bowling Games in the singles championship of the Featherston Bowling Club resulted as follows: —W. Higgison beat W. Johnson, B. Fuge beat H. Bloomfield, G. O’Neale beat S. Kilsby, L. James beat W. Elder, H. Rolls beat W. H. Rowles. In the pairs championship the results were: G. O’Neale and J. Thompson beat W.' Johnson and W. Elder. J. Moriarity and N. Batchelor beat W. Higgison and L. James. J. W. Card and H. Rolls beat B. Fuge and W. Crawford. In the handicap singles N. Bachelor beat R. R. P. Hardy. Euchre Party. An enjoyable time was spent in playing euchre in the Red Cross Society Rooms yesterday afternoon. Mrs Sim was the winner at cards. Competitions were won by Mesdames M. Viles and Sim. Donations were received from Mesdames McKenna, Viles, Sim and Elder. COSY THEATRE “EBB TIDE.” Tomorrow night there will be shown the brilliant drama. “Ebb Tide," fea-1 turing Oscar Homolka, Ray Milland. | Frances Farmer and Lloyd Nolan. Also’ on the programme is Rex Beach’s sensational story, “The Barrier," in which the leading roles are taken by Leo Carrillo and Jean Parker.
