CARTERTON
BOWLING CLUB FOURS & LARSEN CUP. (“Times-Age” Special.) Six rinks played in a competition for the Carter ton Bowling Club's Fours and the Larsen Cup on a well prepared green on Saturday. Afternoon tea was presided over by Mesdames Simmonds and McGavin and Miss Simmonds, to whom a vote of thanks was accorded by acclamation. The results of the games are as follow: —Dew, Spooner, King, Simmonds (s) beat McGimpsey, E. H. Smith; Colson, Stent (s), 25/13; W. H. Hall, Hill, McCarty, Harp (s) beat McPherson, Booth, Foster, Barber (s), 25/9; H. J. Brown, Clarke, Pankhurst, Riggs (s) beat A. E. Hall, E. Smith, Newbould, Whyte (s), 19/14; Tinsley, G. Steven, Underhill, Martin (s) beat Nicholls, Adams, Curtis, Hughan (s), 26/9; H. J. Dudson, Kilmister, W. Hart, Bain (s) beat W. H. Smith, Foss, Edwards, Tucker (s), 28/9; Holland, Hawker, Johnson, Sorensen (s) beat Vaughan, Beaven, DeLacey, Barr (s), 23/13. Rugby Union Ball Tonight. All the arrangements are complete for the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union’s ball in the King’s Theatre, Carterton, tonight. The hall has been decorated for the occasion and the flooxhas had special .treatment. A capable ladies’ committee will be in charge oi the supper arrangements. The music will be a feature of the ball. Personal. Mr and Mrs A. Cave, of Shannon, are the guests of Mr and Mrs A. Callister, Brooklyn Road. Boy Scouts’ Card Party. A card tournament was conducted on Saturday night by the Boy Scout Committee. The prizes were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs A. Jensen and Mrs M. E. Eagle, equal, 1. Men’s section: Mr Morris and Mrs Ticehurst Junr., equal, 1. Pre-Wedding Party. There was a large attendance at the Clareville Social Hall on Saturday .evening when a “parcel evening” was tendered to Miss C. Bishop in connection with her approaching marriage. Mrs Rogers played the music. An extra was played by Mr J. Edwards. During the evening Mr H. J. McKenzie called upon the guest of the evening to open the parcels which covered a wide range of useful articles. Mr M. Evans replied on behalf of Miss Bishop. Mr Hector McKenzie was am efficient M.C. League of Mothers. The League of Mothers held a church 'parade yesterday morning at St. Mark’s Church when there was a good attend'ance of members. The service included the League hymn and prayer and a splendid address by the Rev. W. F. ! Stent.
