OPAKI

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION WINNERS (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Opaki ■Women’s Institute was held at the home of Mrs Dagg, Lansdowne, when Mrs Beetham presided. A collection was taken for the Makogai Leper Christmas gift fund. An attractive display of novelties was offered in the Christmas novelty competition. The results of the competitions were as follow: Novelty, Mrs Dagg 1, Mrs Mannell 2, Mrs Harris 3. Cooking: Mrs Wingate 1, Mrs Cooper 2, Mrs Harris 3. Bowl (made from gramophone record) filled with flowers: Mrs Wingate 1. Mrs Beetham 2, Mrs Harris 3. The roll call, colour preferences, produced an interesting exchange of opinions. In December, when the institute will meet at “Ardsley,” the home of Mrs Beetham, the competitions will be: Best bloom, face cloths and ditty bags. The roll call will be suggestions for next year's programme.
