LAMBS AND EWE KILLED
CLAIM: FOR, DAMAGES. FEATHERSTON. SHEEPWORRYIN,G CASE; (“Times-Age” Special.) At the sitting of the Magistrate's Court held on Wednesday at Featherston before Mr H. P; Lawry, S.M'., C. J. Carlyon was ordered to pay F. W. Smith Ltd. £8 4s 4d forthwith And in default 6 days’ imprisonmept/yn. the. Wellington gaol. Some time was occupied in a defended case, E. E. O’Neale against. H,. E. Foothead, a claim for £l6 damages for 13 lambs and one ewe killed by defendant’s dog. The plaintiff’s evidence was that two dogs, one of which was the defendant’s, (the owner of the other not beingknown). caused the damage as claimed, while defendant and his witness stated that his dog, was at home on the chain, the day named by the plaintiff, and, therefore, could not have been the dog that caused the damage.
After some conflicting evidence had, been given, the Magistrate accepted the evidence of the plaintiff, and' gave, judgment for the full amount of the claim with, costs £4 Bs.
