STOCK MARKET

PRICES AT ADDINGTON A SHARP DROP REPORTED LAMBS DOWN SEVERAL SHILLINGS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 17. There was a sharp easing in practically all classes of meat at Addington today. The main cause was a heavy entry. A big proportion of the spring lamb penned was passed in, the remainder selling at a drop of 6s to 8s on last week. There was a small attendance of buyers and the sale was dragging for all classes. The best price for wethers was 26s 3d for local twotooihs. | The demand for hoggets was weaker), a line of 304 ewes being passed in at 345. Shorn ewe hoggets were also passed in at 24s 6d. Good ewes and lambs sold well, one pen making 245, all counted, but medium sheep showeda drop. In fat sheep, in sympathy with the drop in beef and lamb, there was a decided easing from the outset, and this continued throughout. Best quality sheep showed a decline of from 3s to 4s a head, while there was a bigger drop for medium and light sheep. The highest price for wethers was 47s 7d, and for ewes 38s 7d. The fat cattle sale was erratic, opening weakly and firming slightly .over the concluding stages, but on an average the drop ranged from 30s to 70s. SALE AT MASTERTON RESTRICTED BUSINESS. VENDORS MEET MARKET. The Wairarapa Live Stock Auctioneers report as follows on their sale at Masterton yesterday:—To very restricted bidding, a good yarding of fat sheep, mostly shorn wethers, met with only fair competition.
