THE LOCAL BAND MEMBERS TO BE ENTERTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Members of the Carterton Municipal Silver Band will be entertained by Mr and Mrs W. Spooner at their residence, Rhodes Street, Carterton, on Monday evening next. Bowling Club. Entries for club competitions will close on Saturday next. On Saturday club rink games will be played, and members are reminded that their names must be placed in the boxes by 1.45 p.m. to enable the draw to be made promptly. Rugby Union Bali. A meeting Of ladies called for the purpose of supervising the supper and other, arrangements at the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union’s ball at Carterton on Monday next was held yesterday, and matters in connection therewith fully discussed. The music for the ball will be supplied by a military orchestra of 10 instruments. Personal Items. George Brown, son of Mr and Mrs G. Brown, of Carterton, played in the New Zealand Services football team last Saturday, against the Welsh Guards, when a drawn game—3 points each —was registered. George Brown, before going overseas, was a well known Carterton and Wairarapa football representative. The residents of the Clareville district are to entertain Miss C. A. Bishop, of Clareville, at a social gathering in honour of her approaching marriage. Wairarapa Gun Dog Club The Wairarapa Gun Dog Club intends to stage a field trial outing on the Waiohine River near Carterton next season. The picnic of the club at the Lake Domain, Featherston, on Sunday next will mark the end of this year’s activities.
