OBITUARY
> MRS J. MAXWELL. The death occurred at the Greytown. Hospital yesterday after-a short illness, of Mrs Elizabeth Emily- Maxwell, wife of Mr James Maxwell, of Pownall Street, Masterton, and mother of Mrs James T. Garrity (Greytown) and Mr Robert H. Maxwell (Masterton). The late Mrs Maxwell, who was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends throughout the Wairarapa, was born at Greytown 74 years ago, and was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs C. W. Hornblow, Wairarapa pioneers. She had resided in Masterton for 35 years. Mr A. R. Hornblow, of Wellington, is a brother. There are also five grandchildren left. The funeral will take place on Thursday, leaving the residence, 94 Pownall Street, Masterton, after a service commencing at 2 p.m. ————— MRS M. McKENZIE. At an early hour this morning the death occurred of a well-kjiown and highly respected resident of Masterton in the person of Mrs Mary McKenzie, of Essex Street, widow of Mr W. McKenzie, formerly of Manaia, who died some twenty years ago. Mrs McKenzie, who was born in Canada and came to New Zealand 69 years ago, was 81 years of age. She leaves a family of three daughters, Mesdames J. McMaster (Pirinoa), J. Strang ■(Gladstone), and F. Moss. The late Mrs McKenzie, who was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs George Shaw, pioneer settlers of Te Ore Ore, was a member of the Masterton Plunket Society, the Masterton Navy League and in the last war was one of the valued workers in the Lady Liverpool Committee. MRS T. R. THOMSON. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital this morning of a very popular resident of Masterton, Mrs Margaret (“Maggie”) Thomson, wife of Mr T. R.' Thomson, mail contractor, of Masterton. Mrs Thomson, who was born in Masterton, was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Collins, pioneer settlers of the district. In her younger days she took a keen interest in sport, and was one of the best hockey players ever seen in the Wairarapa. She was a member of the old Garry Owen and Ramblers hockey clubs, and represented Wairarapa on numerous occasions at New Zealand tournaments and in representative matches.
