COUNTY MEETING I PROGRESS OFDISTRICT WORK ' (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council yesterday, the County ranger reported that three cows had been impounded, and 44 dogs had been registered during October. A request by the Pihautea Hall trustees, asking permission to construct a concrete pathway in front of the hall, was agreed to. The County Clerk was given permission to attend the County Clerks’ conference in Palmerston North on November 25. It was resolved to have the plant inspected every three months. Councillors were appointed collectors for the new patriotic appeal. The overseer reported inter alia:— The contractor has now completed his contract for metalling the various roads in No. 8 riding. Most of the roads in this riding are in fair order with the exception of Longbush and Whakarau. A start has been made with an excavator to clean up the slips on these two roads. The contractor has -now completed his contract for the metalling of the various roads in No. 9 riding and also the Backwater and Georges roads. All general maintenance has been carried out. A temporary bridge at the cliffs, Whatarangi Road, has been put in place. The contractor has made good progress with the clearing of slips on this road. The contractor has now completed the metalling of Tora and Te Awaite roads and has made a start on the White Rock No. 2 length.-
