USE OF DARDANELLES
FOR ALLIED SHIPMENTS TO RUSSIA MAY BE PERMITTED BY TURKEY (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 11. The possibility of sending supplies to Russia through the Dardanelles is likely to have been one of the subjects which Mr Eden discussed with the Turkish Foreign Minister, says the British United Press correspondent in Cairo. Following upon the Russians’ advance in the south, it would be a great advantage to ship supplies through the Black Sea instead of Persia. Use of Turkish airfields by the Allies was also possibly discussed, but well-informed circles discount the idea that Turkey was asked to enter the war.
