GENERAL CARTON DE WIART. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, November 11. Mr Churchill told the House of Commons that General Carton De Wiart, V.C., who has been appointed his personal representative with Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, would also be under Lord Mountbatten’s orders. as principal liaison officer in Chungking. It was hoped that this additional contact would be helpful in promoting close relations. It had been cordially welcomed by the Generalissimo.
