NEW TYPE OF BOMB
USED BY JAPANESE IN AIR FIGHTING.

Japanese fighters used a new bomb of a phosphorus incendiary type in an effort to break Sunday’s Allied bomber attack on Rabaul. These bombs are designed to burst into flaming particles which stick on any plane hit, setting it on fire. The enemy technique-was to send his main fighter force to engage the escorting Allied fighters while a smaller force of his bomb-carrying fighters attacked our bombers with the new projectiles.
