COUNTY AFFAIRS

MAURICEVILLE COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. ROAD TO BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held yesterday afternoon. Councillor E. W. Cheetham presided, there being also present: Councillors A. Forsberg, A. Gray, O. Welch, and D. Bennett. Leave of absence was granted to Councillor J. H. MacDonald. The treasurer’s report which showed a credit balance of £1877 6s 3d was adopted. The chairman reported on the tenders received for the purchase of a truck. The chairman’s action in accepting the highest tender was endorsed. Authority was received from the district building controller to issue a building permit to allow the work of building a residence on the council’s property at Mauriceville to proceed. The clerk was instructed to call for tenders for the erection of the building, and also take steps to arrange the necessary finance. The county overseer, Mr P. N. Jamieson, reported that work would commence on the repairs to Koce’s bridge, situated on the main Mauriceville-Al-fredton highway on Wednesday, November 10, at 12 noon, and that it would be necessary to close the road to all traffic for about four days. The clerk was instructed to advertise that the road would be closed.
