The Associated Press undertsands that there is good reason for expecting that the Duke of Gloucester will be appointed to succeed Lord Gowrie as Governor-General of Australia and that arrangements are being made for the Duke’s departure to Australia as soon as possible, though no authoritative information is at present available in London about the appointment. The Duchess of Gloucester presumably will accompany her husband. The Duke of Gloucester was attached to the B.E.F. almost till the collapse of France ffhd since then has been engaged largely in assisting his Majesty in public duties, which have greatly increased since the Duke of Kent s death.
