VENOMOUS BUT DULL

HITLER’S LATEST SPEECH

IN MUNICH BEER HALL.

SOME ASSERTIONS & THREATS.

LONDON, November 8. Germany today is proving her worth in a most difficult struggle for existence against the armed hatred and devilish and destructive will of the bitterest and maddest enemies, declared Hitler in his address to Nazi veterans in the Beer Cellar at Munich, on the occasion of the Munich putsch anniversary.

The German news agency stated that Hitler gave the Nazis as their watchword for the November celebrations the 1943 slogan: “The meaning of our honour is loyalty.” The news agency later issued the text of the speech from Munich, without indicating that it was in Hitler’s words. The speech began with the usual reference to Marxists and Jews, the “shameful Treaty of Versailles” and “the inner decay which allowed Bolshevism to stretch out its hand even more insolently to the German people.” Hitler added that the German people and soldiers had not allowed any traitor chief to arise and that: “They are now shaping the impregnability of a Reich fanatically determined to conquer and live by loyalty and an unconditional struggle which shrinks from no sacrifice.” It is recalled that on this day last year, Hitler told the Germans that Germany would soon launch a counterblow to drive the Americans from North Africa, and said that the Nazis had conquered Stalingrad, except for “some small unimportant parts.”

Germany's answer to the R.A.F. bombings, Hitler said, would take Britain’s breath away and Germany had more U-boats than ever before and would use them.

In the course of his speech Hitler said that no sacrifices demanded now would be comparable with those demanded of the German people if Germany lost the war. He declared that the industrial damage done by Allied bombing was negligible and promised that shattered homes would be rebuilt in a period of two or three years. Now, as in 1918, Hitler said, there were some scoundrels in Germany who desired an 'Allied victory, but these people had no chance now to do the work of the enemy because of the organisation of the State. Promising the Allies an hour of retribution, Hitler said that although American was out of reach, there was one country within hitting distance, “and we will get down to it.” Germany, Hitler declared, would never capitulate. No matter how long the war might last, “the mistakes of 1918” would never be repeated.
