FEATHERSTON
PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE ENJOYABLE DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was an excellent attendance at the Junior Patriotic Committee’s dance in the Town Hall on Saturday night. The music was supplied by Mrs V., Ashton’s Orchestra and extras were played by Misses G. Fraser, N. Tocker, and C. Saba. Mr V. Ashton was M.C. The lucky spot veleta was won by Pvt. Cunningham and Miss A. Johnson, and the Monte Carlo dance by Mr J Simmonds and Miss McGarvie. The artistically decorated supper tables was the work of Mrs Alexander. Personal. Mrs Jones, who has been the guest of Mrs L. McKenna, Pihautea, has returned to her home in Wellington. Bowling Season Opened. The Featherston Bowling Club opened its green on Saturday in perfect weather. There were visiting rinks fromaMasterton, Carterton and Martinborough. The president, Mr Johnson, welcomed the visitors and wished them a happy season. He called on his daughter, Miss Alice Johnson, to throw down the first kitty, and Mr J. Higgison, a life member of the club, to deliver the first bowl. COSY THEATRE “THE GOOD EARTH.” On Wednesday night there will be shown the brilliant drama, “The Good Earth,” featuring Paul Muni and Luise Rainer.
