COAL AGREEMENT
APPROVED BY AMERICAN WAR LABOUR BOARD. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, November 6. The War Labour Board has approved the coal agreement reached by the Fuel Administrator, Mr Ickes, and the president of the United Mine Workers’ Association, Mr Lewis, subject to clarification and resubmission to the board of a provision providing for payment of piece-workers and the regulation of under-ground car pushing. The Associated Press of America says that if Mr Lewis accepts the board’s qualifications it will probably end the wage controversy which has caused four strikes in six months.
