WOMEN’S DIVISION
RANGITUMAU BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Rangitumau branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held recently, James presiding. A new. member was given an enthusiastic welcome. Members brought biscuits for the bring and buy section, and a Christmas novelty for a competition. The president informed members that as a result of their efforts, the satisfactory sum of £2O had been raised to help to swell the sick and wounded fund of the country sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. As the sum aimed at had been ten pounds, the branch has reason to feel proud of the result of their efforts. The results of the competitions are as follow:—Christmas novelty: Mrs T. McLachlan, Mrs James and Mrs P. P. O’Brien, equal, 1. Single bloom: Mrs Wrigley, 1; Mrs Duckett, Miss Harvey, and Mrs Macdonald, equal, 2. Three blooms: Mrs James, 1; Mrs Duckett, Mrs Wrigley, and Mrs Macdonald, equal, 2. The competition next month will be aprons made from either new or old materials. The hostesses, Mesdames Duckett and Stuart, provided and served an enjoyable afternoon tea. A party was given in her home by Mrs James, to celebrate the 10th birthday of the Rangitumau branch. During the evening, a fruit cake, baked and given by Mrs James was raffled and the sum of £4 6s was raised, which sum is included in the £2O previously mentioned. The cake was won
by Mr W. Cameron. Mr and Mrs James and their daughter made the party an enjoyable one, and their efforts were very much appreciated.
