SOLWAY-MANAIA MEETING

LIST OF COMPETITION WINNERS (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the SolwayManaia Women’s Institute was held on Thursday. Mrs Munn presided and welcomed a large attendance of members. Mr M. M. Simpson gave a very interesting address on incidents during his career in the Post Office. His remarks were greatly enjoyed and he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mrs Simpson was presented with a posy. It was reported that during last month four soldiers’. parcels had been packed and forwarded overseas, making a total of 10 for this year. Mrs Diamond and Mrs Sinclair volunteered to visit sick members during December. It was decided that the hostesses for December should be Mesdames Sims, Taylforth, Sutherland, Senr., and Sinclair. * The following were the results of the competitions: Cooking, biscuits, Mrs Woollett 1, Mrs Allen 2, Mrs Curry 3. Sewing, patchwork apron, Mrs Sutherland and Mrs Cornick, equal 1, Mrs Scrivener 2, Mrs Catton 3. Knitting, Mrs Sutherland 1, Mrs Scrivener 2, Mrs Catton 3. Large bloom, Mrs Thompson and Mrs Taylforth, equal 1, Mrs Kirk 2, Mrs Carr 3. Small bloom, Mrs Allen 1, Mrs Webber 2, Mrs Catton 3. Cluster bloom, Mrs Scrivener 1, Mrs Tulloch 2. Flowering shrub, Mrs Wesney and Mrs Munn equal 1, Mrs Webber 2, Mrs Allen 3.
