ALFREDTON

GAMES EVENING PATRIOTIC SOCIETY’S EFFORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at tne fortnightly games night conducted by the Patriotic Society. The winners for the evening were Miss F. Nordloff and Mrs Potter. A comnetition for a trophy presented by Mrs J. R. Nelson realised £1 17s 6d, and one for .a box of chocolates £1 Us 6d, the latter contest being won by Mr W. Heckler. The following goods were donated and auctioned by Mr Kebbell: Tulips and beef dripping (donated by Mrs R. Kebbell) realised 6s 3d; lemons (Mrs Nelson), 3s 3d; lily of the valley (Mrs Low), 3s; rhododendrons' (Mrs Leach), Is; vegetables ('Mr C. Leach), £2 9s 6d. Those present stood in silence as a mark of 'respect to the late Miss M. McAnulty (a sister of Mrs H. Percy), who was accidentally killed in a motor accident, in the Middle East. The hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Kebbell and Nelson. Minister Farewelled. The Rev. D. McNeur and Mrs McNeur were entertained at luncheon by the parishioners recently. l Mr W. Walker presented Mr and Mrs McNeur with a set of cpns and saucers and a hanging mirror, with the best wishes of the Alfredton members of the Presbyterian Church. Mr McNeur suitably responded.
