STRIKES IN BRITAIN

DETAILS FOR CURRENT YEAR.

(By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, November 4. The Ministry of Labour Gazette reveals that more strikes occurred in Britain in September than in any previous month since the outbreak of the war. There were 200 separate strikes, involving 90,000 workers and the loss of 327,000 working days. A total of 161 disputes were settled in Sepember, and only 26'of the settlements were favourable to the workers. The strikes since January 1 have totalled 1281, more than 500 of which were in the coalfields. At the present rate it is' likely that about 1,500,000 working days will be lost this year, but a comparison with the past years does not justify a fear that Britain is becoming industrially stormy.
