SWIMMING
MASTERTON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING GOOD PROSPECTS REPORTED FOR NEW SEASON. BOROUGH COUNCIL THANKED. The annual meeting of the Masterton Swimming Club was held last night. There was a good attendance of members, and the indications are that interest in swimming foi’ the coming season will be well maintained. In the absence on active service of the president, Captain H. P. Glen, the patron of the club, Mr H. E. Pither, was in the chair. ,- v The annual report and showed a good year, considering the absence of many leading members in the Armed Forces. j Appreciation was expressed of) the Borough Council’s action in rebating to the club portion of the takings at the baths during last season. Owing to abnormal times, the membership of the club was down, but the large numbers of young members had, by their enthusiasm, kept the club on the map. Last year’s officers were re-elected. It was left in the hands of Mr C. H. Spiers and the patron to send Christmas parcels to members in the Armed Forces. Unfortunately about 14 members were now prisoners of war, and could not receive parcels in that way. Appreciation was expressed of the services of Mr F. Stains (secretary) and Mr Curry (auditor).
