High Government officials are suggesting that the Duke of Gloucester should be invited to become the next Governor-General of Australia. The term of the present Governor-General, Lord Gowrie, ends next January, and it is believed to be Lord Gowrie’s wish to return to England for pressing personal reason?. The late Duke of Kent was to have come to Australia as Governor-General in 1939, but was prevented by the outbreak of war.
