IN STUDY AND IN SPORT.

MEMORIES OF FLYING OFFICER TRIGG V.C. ' (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, November 2. “Lloyd Trigg was known at the High School as a really good type and was popular with boys and.masters alike,” said Mr L. G. Miller, who was his form master for a period, when referring to the latest V.C. winner, Flying Officer Trigg. ‘Both in class-room and playing field he was a good all rounder and as a forward in the Rugby first fifteen was a real ‘rip fearer.’ His red head bobbed up everywhere the going was hardest. He had the same determination and powers of concentration in every phase of school life.” He was at Whangarei High School from 1927 to 1932. His versatility was revealed' in his passion for music, which was concurrent with a love for strenuous athletic sports. An accomplished violinist, he played in the school orchestra and when still only. 18 was a member of the Whangarei Municipal Orchestra. Though he met with considerable scholastic success both at Whangarei High School and Auckland University College, he still retained a love of the out-of-doors. Travelling extensively throughout the North Island, he worked on farms, mostly sheep stations. At Carterton six years ago he met and married Miss Noalla McGarvie.
