LOOT IN COURT
MANY FURNISHING ITEMS. DISPLAY AT UPPER HUTT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Upper Hutt court presented an extraordinary scene yesterday. The whole of the available space, almost taking in the Bench, was filled with exhibits which looked like the contents of a furnishing -warehouse. Rugs, carpets, mattresses, cushions, pillows, blankets, towels and other soft goods made the foundation pattern. Fancy cups and saucers, China ornaments, toast racks, pepper and salt shakers, salad bowls, jugs, and a coffee pot were there, with a clock, lamp, deck chairs, a handsome radio and some travelling trunks. All w;ere officially described as: “The property of various owners,” who had lost them from their weekend cottages at Raumati, Paekakariki, the Blue Mountains and Upper Hutt. Two men appeared before Justices and were remanded. They were Allan Dome, an ex-soldier, of Moera, and Eric Hamlyn McKnight, clerk, of Lower Hutt. Detective-Sergeant Murch stated that charges were pending in respect of other goods not covered by the present proceedings. . I
