RESTORATION OF BUILDINGS. government asked to provide FUNDS. WAIRARAPA • LOCAL BODIES PASS RESOLUTION. At a meeting representative of boroughs and counties throughout the Wairarapa from Pahiatua to Featherston, held in the Masterton Borough Council Chambers last night, and presided over by Mr T. Jordan, Mayor of Masterton, it was unanimously resolved: —
That application be made to the Government for funds to be made available for general assistance as restoring buildings damaged in the 1942 earthquakes throughout the Wairarapa district.
'That such funds be in the meantime provided from the Consolidated Fund with reimbursement at the termination of the war, from the surplus in the War Damage Fund. It was decided that the above resolution be conveyed to the Prime Minister and a copy sent to Mr G. H. Mackley, M.P.
