FEATHERSTON

WEDDING SOLE—THOMPSON. (“Times-Age” Special.) A very pretty wedding took place at flip Presbyterian Church,' Featherston, on Friday, when Joyce, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Thompson, South Featherston, was married to Ray Errol, eldest son of Mr and Mrs C. E. Sole, New Plymouth. , The Rev. H. Bloomfield was the officiating minister and Mrs Raper was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a white satin gown. The bodice, with a heart-shaped neckline, was gathered into a diamond-shaped waist, with a very full skirt falling to form a train. The frock was trimmed with an unusual twisted silver and white braid. The veil, which was handmade and was of embroidered lace, was worn by her mother at her wedding. It was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She wore a string of pearls. Her shower bouquet was of lily of the valley and tulips. Miss Mavis E. Lambeth, New Plymouth, who attended the bride, wore a lull length frock of Marina blue, and a large cream picture hat with contrasting trimmings. She wore a crystal necklace, a gift from the bridegroom. Her bouquet was of pink roses and tulips. Mr Gordon "Walsh, formerly of New Plymouth, and now of Wellington, acted as best man. The bride was presented with a horseshoe on leaving the church. A reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a black and gold figure frock and smart black felt hat and carried a gold posy blending beautifully with her frock. She was assisted by Ihe bridegroom’s mother, who was attired in a navy costume with fur stole, and carried a posy of cyclamen flowers. The three-tier wedding cake was made and iced by the bride. When the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon, Mrs Sole wore a smart teal frock, with black coat and hat and accessories. Mr and Mrs R. E. Sole will make their home at New Plymouth. RED CROSS SOCIETY EUCHRE PARTY YESTERDAY. An enjoyable time was spent playing, euchre at the. Red Cross Society’s rooms yesterday afternoon. Mrs Watson was the card winner. Competitions were won by Mrs Wilsen and Mrs Mellish. Donations were received from Mesdames McKenna, Sharp, H. Buck and Miss Palliser. Personal Items. Miss P. Hatton left today for Bien-, heim, where she will spend a holiday. Miss Barnard, Wellington, is visiting Featherston. Vital Statistics. There were 10 births, 1 marriage and 4 deaths registered in Featherston last month. Rainfall for October. Rain fell in Featherston on Twentyone days in October, the total fall being 4.72 inches. The maximum fall was 74 points on October 13. In October, 1942, 3.45 inches of rain were registered, there being twelve wet days. COSY THEATRE “WUTHERING HEIGHTS.” Tomorrow night there will be shown that masterpiece of fiction, “Wuthering Heights,” with Merle Oberon, _ David Niven and Laurence Olivier in the principal roles. The associate picture is “The Squeaker,” Edgar Wallace’s thrilling story, starring Edmund Lowe and Ann Todd.
