ANNUAL SPORTS EVENTS HIGH STANDARD SET. THIS MORNING’S RESULTS. The weather was brilliantly fine today, when the Wairarapa College held its annual sports gathering. The sports were postponed from last week on account' of wet weather. The grounds Were looking a picture, and there was a large crowd of spectators. There were many thrilling finishes, and a high standard was set in all the events. Running in the girls’ 75 yards Under 14 championship event, A. Burns clocked in at 10 seconds, breaking the record of 10 1-5 secs, held by C. Wright (1940) and M. Stewart (1941). Mr J. W. Bird and his staff, which included visiting officials, ably carried out the duties associated with the successful running of the programme. Results of this morning’s events are as follow, the houses represented by the competitors being given as follows:— A. (Arawa), T. (Tainui), K. (Kahungunu), N. (Ngapuhi).
