CALF JUDGING
ALLOCATION OF PETROL MADE CLUBS THROUGHOUT DOMINION The Government, as a result pf representations made by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon Ben Roberts, has agreed to release petrol to allow members of school calf clubs to convey their calves to schools for judging. This information is given by Mr I Hesse, agricultural instructor, Wellingj ton Education Board, who states that | 3,000 gallons of petrol will be released to calf club members throughout New Zealand for the purpose stated. Last, year, school calf clubs raised 5,000 heifer calves and the same number in the previous year. As most of these calves are of pedigree stock, their contribution is a valuable one. Several months ago the Honowhenua Calf Club applied for petrol, but the request was not entertained. Mr Roberts, it is pointed out, was one of the first judges to adjudicate in the Wairarapa when the calf club movement was stated.
