ZERO HOUR
FOR INVASION OF EUROPE AND RISINGS IN OCCUPIED COUNTRIES. MAY BE NEAR AT HAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, October 31. It is believed' in some quarters in Moscow that Allied plans have reached a' stage where zero hour for an open rising against the Hitler forces inside Europe is very close, says Reuter’s Moscow correspondent. This is indicated by the prominence given in Moscow to appeals to patriots inside occupied Europe. The Algiers radio yesterday broadcast an appeal to French workers to be ready to assist Allied armies landing in Europe. The German News Agency says the Allies are preparing for a new attack against Europe from both north and south. Admiral Saalwarchter,. naval correspondent of the news agency, says the following Allied preparations have been observed: Firstly, large numbers of ships have been concentrated in the English Channel; secondly, three convoys totalling 350 ships met on Thursday in the Straits of Gibraltar, apparently on their way into the Mediterranean.
