SUGAR FOR JAM-MAKING

SPECIAL ALLOWANCE GRANTED. BOR NOVEMBER' AND DECEMBER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A special allowance of sugar is to be granted during November and December for jam-making. This decision of the War Cabinet was announced yesterday by the Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan. He said that in addition to the ordinary ration of 31b. of sugar for November, an allowance of 31b. for jammaking could be obtained any time during November and December. The first allowance for jam-making this year was being made earlier than last year so that housewives could take advantage of early fruits. It was hoped that stocks would be sufficient to permit the release of further quantities of sugar for jam-making for January and subsequent months. The coupons available for the fourweekly period commencing November 1 and ending November 28 for tea and sugar would be: Tea, coupons Nos. 1 to 4 in the new ration book, each available for 2oz. of tea. Sugar coupons Nos. 1 to 4 in the new ration book, each aavilable for 12oz. of sugar. Special sugar ration, coupon Y2 in the new ration book, available for 31b. of sugar at any time during November and December.
