4 Cricket Postponed. On account of wet wickets the Wairarapa Cricket Association's fixtures set down for today have been postponed until next Saturday. St. John Ambulance. The ' following members of the St. John Ambulance recently passed their examination in First Aid: Albert Donald, Paul Francis Downs, Ralph Gully, Reha Hira Keltic,. Lawrence Robinson, Leonard Sewell and Harold Wilmhurst. infant’s Body Found. The body of a newly-born infant child was found in Woodhaugh Gardens, Dunedin, on Thursday afternoon. It was wrapped in sacking and an examination disclosed that the baby had apparently not been attended to at birth. Death pf Injured Man. Mr Henry Winchester, aged 70, of Riccarton Road, Christchurch, who was seriously injured in the level crossing collision at Kaiapoi on Monday in which George Benny, aged 84, and Mrs Jane Winchester, 42, were killed, died in hospital yesterday morning. Eden Electorate. 1 The latest figures for the Eden scat give the Labour candidate, Mr W. T. Anderton, a lead of 10 votes over the National candidate, Lieutenant-Colonel W. H. Fortune, as follow: Anderton, 7252; Fortune, 7242. There are still between 20 and 30 service votes to be distributed. Soldiers Fined. Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Pahiatua Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday five soldiers were fined for procuring liquor after hours and two of them were further fined for purchasing and removing liquor. They were V. R. Ward, A. H. McAllister, C. W. Calcott, T. D. Selby and G. G. L. Wallis. Selby and Wallis were fined £3 and the other men £2. L. G. Sowerby, a soldier, was fined £2 for having liquor in his possession al a dance hall. To Increase the Quantity of Butter. The average housewife’s immediate reaction to butler rationing is to wonder how far her cookery books can help her in providing butterless recipes. But it is even more important to supply the deficiency by some other means if possible. One excellent way to increase the butter supply is as follows:—Warm a quarter-pint of fresh milk to blood heat and add a little salt- Then slightly warm .{lb of butter, taking care not to molt it. Beat the butter well and add the warmed milk gradually till the butter will not absorb any more milk. Leave to stand a little while before using. The Jib of butter so I rented will now have become about jib of good butter. I
