APPEAL TO TURKEY
TO JOIN UNITED NATIONS MADE IN BROADCAST FROM MOSCOW. NEUTRALITY OF ADVANTAGE TO GERMANY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) (Received This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON. October 28. The Moscow radio last night appealed to Turkey to abandon her neutrality and enter the war alongside the United Nations. Quoting ail article from the influential Moscow newspaper. “War and the Working Class,” the announcer said: — “Turkey’s neutrality in the early part of the war offered advantages to both Germany and the Allies, but later, particularly after Stalingrad, when Germany ceased to be a menace to the Middle East, Turkey’s neutrality became of exclusive advantage to Geimany. With Hitler in full retreat on the Russian front and with Italy as Germany’s enemy, Germany trembles with fear lest Turkey enter the war. If it had not been for the Red Army and the support of the Allies, Hitler would have made short work of Turkey.” ___
