V.A.D’S. DEATH

IN MOTOR ACCIDENT MISS M. INNES, OF MASTERTON Cable advice' has been received of the death in a motor accident in the Middle East of Private Mary Innes, of Masterton. Miss Innes, who was 27 years of age, left New Zealand two years ago with the first detachment of V.A.D’s and was stationed with the No. 2 General Hospital. Miss Innes was born and educated at Masterton and was the daughter of Mrs F. Innes and the late Mr Innes of Worksop Road. She received her training at the Masterton Hospital and later took up work with a military hospital in the Wairarapa. Miss Innes was a tireless worker and possessed a cheerful and pleasing manner which endeared her to patients and friends alike. Returned men who were patients in the No. 2 General Hospital speak highly of her services. While in Masterton Miss Innes was a member of the Masterton Goll C hib, among the members of which she was held in high esteem. In addition to her mother she is survived by three sisters, Mrs D. A. Connell (Masterton), Sister Innes (Masterton Hospital), Mrs' N. G. Whiteman (Masterton) and four brothers, Messrs J. Innes (Whakataki), W. 1). Innes, “Spring Hill,” M. M. Innes, Waipukurau, and SUiff-Sergcanl 11. A. Innes, to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended.
