AGAIN HIT HARD
JAPANESE AT RABAUL ALLIED WEEKEND RAIDS DISPOSE OF 123 ENEMY PLANES. DESTROYER AND FIVE COASTERS SUNK. LONDON. Otcober 25. Japanese air strength in the South-West Pacific has suffered another severe blow. During the week-end, 123 more enemy planes were destroyed in two Allied raids on Rabaul. Over 300 Liberators and Mitchells were engaged in the operations, and four failed to return. A communique from Allied Headquarters states that the attacks were launched as soon as it was learnt that the enemy was trying to build up his strength by air reinforcements. Apart from the blasting of the three airfields, the bombers also attacked shipping in the harbour, sinking a destroyer and five coastal vessels.
