LIEUTENANT J. L. WILLIAMS OFFICIAL CITATION COVERING AWARD The citation covering the award of the Military Cross to Lieutenant J L. Williams, a son of the late Mr A- Williams, of Masterton. and Mrs Williams, now of Auckland, slates:— This officer was a detachment commander in the anti-tank platoon ot his battalion. During the afternoon ot March 26, 19-13. his detachment was on the left of the battalion during on attack in the vicinity of the Roman Wall. About 1606 hours he ordered up a porlee to move a gtm into position to deal with enemy machine-gun posts sited in derelict tanks and some rounds were' fired at these. 'Phis officer then carried out' ti reconnaissance on loot under heavy fire and noticed that enemy tanks were hampering the advance of the company on the lelt flank, lie immediately brought his gun mtn uelion and destroyed one enemy Mark 111 (auk.
