NEW PHASE

OPENING IN ALLIED RELATIONS MOSCOW CONFERENCE DISCUSSIONS. SUBSTANTIAL PROGRESS REPORTED. (Bv Telegraph-—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, October 24. The meeting of the three-Power conference in Moscow yesterday lasted two hours 20 minutes, the shortest so far, Messrs. Eden and Hull and M. Molotov decided to meet today to hasten progress through the long agenda. Substantial progress has already been made in the talks, said Reuter’s Moscow correspondent yesterday. It was known that all the parties continued to be very pleased with the mutual understanding shown, and that a measure of agreement had already been reached. The Moscow correspondent of “The Times” says it was felt that the Allied statesmen participating in the conference had already brought their Governments into closer agreement than ever before. The Russians had shown understanding of British and American views which Mr. Eden and Mr. Hull were advancing with great candour, and the Russians’ reception of these views was surprising the most optimistic expectations. There was a growing feeling among the delegates that the conference would mark the opening of a new phase in Allied relations.
