LATE RATES MAINTAINED
AT CARTERTON SALE YESTERDAY GOOD PRICES FOR WEANER PIGS Messrs Wright Stephenson & Co., Ltd., report as follows on the sale at Carterton yesterday: A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward. Prices were on a par with late rates for the sheep and cattle but weaner pigs were in short supply and a good sale resulted. The following are some of the realisations:— Sheep: Fat wethers to 38s, fat ewes 255, 28s to 29s 6d, prime heavy hoggets, to 425; fat hoggets, 27s 6d to 33s 6d; fat S.D. wethers, to 435; woolly wr. hoggets, 24s 7d to 24s 9d; ewe hoggets, to 24s 3d. Cattle: Jersey cows on drop, £lO 10s to £l3; springing cows, to £8 15s; Jersey heifers just calved, to £9; springing heifers, £3 10s to £7 10s; fat Jersey cows, £6 ss, £6 10s; forward cows, £4 to £5; store cows, £2 Is, £2 15s, £3 5s to £3 12s 6d; cows and calves, £3, £3 15s, £4 6s to £7 2s 6d; fat heifers, £6 5s to £lO 2s 6d; 2-year p.b. Jersey bulls, to 17gns. Pigs: Baconers, £3 17s 6d, £4 12s, £5 to £5 ss; forward stores, £2 Bs. £2 Ils to £2 15s; store pigs, £2, £2 3s to £2 ss; slips, 38s to 395; weaners (good), 30s to 375, medium 265, 28s 6d to 295, small 22s to 255.
