The final batch of 5000 was on the night of . September 28-29 taken from Amsterdam to a concentration camp at Westernburg, said Professor Gerbrandi, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Government in London, in a broadcast to Holland. He added: 1 “A large group of Dutch civil servants is about to be carried off to Germany as part of an attempt to effect the total destruction of independent Dutch national existence.” Dr. Gerbrandi called on Netherlanders to resist the deportation at all costs and to refuse collaboration with the Germans. “The German usurpers . are attempting to stave off the approaching end by terror and are trying to hide their weakness through creating fear.”
