MEETING AT EKETAHVNA
NEW RANGER APPOINTED. TOWN CLERK’S SALARY INCREASED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Borough Council was held on Wednesday night, there being present: The Mayor (Mr W. Olsen), Crs. R. Gallagher. K. Marenzi, H. Rogers, D. D. Ryan and E. Simmers. The treasurer (Mr J. Wakelin) reported as follows:—District fund account, dr., £ll5O 18s 7d; No. 2 account (earthquake damage), dr., £4172 2s 4d; Domain account, dr., £5O 18s 3d; rate arrears, £325 19s 8d; cemetery arrears, £27 19s. A building permit was issued to F. Parkes, of Pahiatua, in respect to earthquake repairs, the estimated cost I of which is £lOO. It was decided to appoint Mr J. G. Shannon as ranger for 'the borough. The appointment of a delegate to ± attend the annual conference of bodies, to be held at Napier in February, was held over until the next meeting. The National Service Department wrote requesting that the contents of the E.P.S. first aid cabinet be inspected regularly. —Agreed to. The Postmaster-General advised that the building of the new Post Office would be proceeded with as soon as circumstances permitted. It was decided that a final warning be given to owners to clear their properties of noxious weeds. It was decided to request subscribers to return any library boohs they may have in them possession. \ It was decided to increase the town clerk’s salary by £26 per annum. The Health Inspector, Mr J. M. Swain, reported a clean bill of health for September.
