The Hon W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express last night. The death occurred at Pahiatua yesterday of Miss Louisa Millicent Roil, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs T. J. Roil, of Mangamaire.

The death has occurred at Rotorua of Miss Mary Butler, a member of an old Wellington family. Miss Mary Butler was educated at St Mary's Convent, Wellington, where she achieved honours in literature and poetry. She became a talented elocutionist. Miss Butler was also gifted as a producer and organiser of masques and pageants. The death occurred recently at Marotiri, Foxton. of Mrs Winnifred Emmeline Jagger, wife of Mr Albert Jagger. Mrs Jagger was the third daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Alexander McHardie. Born at Sanson. 52 years ago. she won at a very early age a junior national scholarship and went to Wanganui Girls' College. Two years later she won a senior national scholarship and was dux of the Wanganui College. She spent two years as a probationary teacher and then entered Victoria University College, where at the age of 19 years she obtained her B.A. degree. Her first appointment was at the Foxton School, and from there she went as assistant at the Pahiatua District High School. Later she was appointed headteacher of the Rotorua High School, which position she held for 12 years. Fourteen years ago she resigned her position to marry Mr Jagger, and spent the remaining years of her life in Foxton.
