LEAVE FOR NURSES
THOSE WHO WISH TO MARRY. POLICY DECIDED BY HOSPITAL BOARD. At a previous meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board, Mrs S. Fletcher gave notice that she would move the rescinding of a resolution passed by the board which stated “that in cases where members of the nursing staff wish to get married they can be given three weeks’ leave without pay.” At yesterday’s meeting of the board Mrs Fletcher’s motion was carried. The board decided to fall into line with the policy outlined by Miss Lambie, Director General of Nursing, which provides that in cases where a nurse was marrying a man on furlough in New Zealand indefinite leave of absence would be granted and "in cases where he was stationed in New Zealand six weeks leave of absence should be granted. The Matron, Miss H. D. Grant, approved of the new policy.
