WAR PRISONERS
IN BRITISH AND GERMAN HANDS EXCHANGE NOW IN PROGRESS. IN THREE WAR AREAS. LONDON, October 18. An exchange of British, United States and German disabled prison-ers-of-war is in progress. The exchange includes a number of protected personnel. The matter was raised by Germany soon after the end of the Tunisian campaign. Three groups of exchanges are being arranged, one between Britain and the Continent, another in the Western Mediterranean and the third in the Middle East. In the last-men-tioned case, nearly 1000 men, including Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans will be returned to the Middle East. The ships concerned are under safe conduct and have International Red Cross delegates aboard as neutral observers.
