Maungdaw, in Burma, was the object of a land attack on Saturday and an air attack yesterday, states an India communique A party of British troops, under cover of diversionary raids by patrols, successfully attacked Maungdaw with mortar fire on Saturday night. Japanese positions were attacked yesterday morning by dive-bombers and Hurricanes attacked enemy-occu-pied villages in. the Maungdaw area and started large fires. Beaufighters damaged a number of river craft, including three large steamers and two oil barges.
