A correspondent of the United Press of America says that the Japanese apparently intended to seek a show-down but suffered "cold feet” and concentrated on the evacuation of their forces remaining on Guadalcanal. The Americans have unsuccessfully tried to lure the Japanese into a test of naval strength several times since then, concludes the correspondent. \
