AUSTRALIANS WIN “ASHES.” MATCHES WITH NEW ZEALAND AND ENGLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LQNDON, October 14. In a three-cornered series, England, Australia and New Zealand, the Australians won the cricket “Ashes” for 1943. Because of circumstances beyond the control of players and spectators, the matches were played at a prisoners of war camp, Stammlager 383, in Germany. News of the matches has reached England from a prisoner. Both England and Australia beat New Zealand, and in the final two-day match, Australia beat England by 200 runs.
