EKETAHUNA

TEACHERS’ INSTITUTE MEETING OF BRANCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Pahiatua-Bush branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute was held at the Eke-, tahuna District High School, there be’ing present teachers from Pahiatua District High School, Ekctahuna District High School, Rongokokako, Hamua, Marima and Hukanui schools. Mr Giddings, president, on opening the meeting, extended on behalf of the branch, a welcome to Mr R. G. Lockhart, headmaster of the Eketahu.na District High School. On the motion of Mr Cuthbert, it was decided to send a letter of congratulation to Mr A. B. Fordyce, on his promotion to Sumner. A vote of thanks was passed to Miss Hueston, secretary, for her work in finding the addresses of soldier teachers. A lengthy list of business was covered. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the ladies who served the afternoon tea. Personal. The death is announced of Mr J. H. Lynskey, a former headmaster of the Eketahuna District High School, and a well-known football coach. Returned Home. Gunner David George Castle, whose next-of-kin is Mr M. Castle, Chelsfield, Eketahuna (father), was among a party of the Second N.Z.E.F. (Pacific section) who recently returned to New Zealand on leave or because of sickness.
