PIRINOA
PERSONAL ITEMS ("Times-Age" Special.) . The many friends of Corporal Allen Rose, will regret to hear of his death in action. He belonged to Invercargill. He was in this district after the earthquake last year, being in charge of the rebuilding of chimneys and made himself exceedingly popular with local residents. The death occurred recently of Mr John Phillips, formerly licensee of the Lake Ferry Hotel for a number of years. He was well known and highly respected. He leaves a wife and three daughters to whom the sympathy of residents will be extended. Messrs Halidone and McDonald have returned from Gisborne. Successful Dance. The bachelors and spinsters held a most successful dance at Pirinoa, the proceeds from which will be devoted to providing parcels for local service men overseas.
