EKETAHUNA

FLOWER DISPLAY DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. (“Times-Age" Special.) The primary classes of the Eketahuna District High School held a flower display recently. The pupils brought spring flowers and provided a wealth of beautiful blooms. The various classes and standards under the general direction of their teachers, decorated their classrooms. Numerous parents and interested adults visted the school and were able to see the pupils following their usual school programmes for the afternoon in a bright and pleasing environment. The acting-chairman of the School Committee, 'Mr. R. Farrow, and Mr. Frank Goggin, the chairman of the Eketahuna Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club, were among the visitors and expressed their appreciation. A very fine display of narcissi, representative of the various classes as staged at horticultural shows, was exhibited by the Rev. Utting. The next day the senior pupils were given details of the methods of classification based on these flowers, as the teachers and pupils had planned a display of flowers for education and not for a flower show for competition. No prizes were awarded. It is proposed to hold similar displays at seasonal intervals. Personal. Miss Macrae, Napier, who has been the guest of her cousin, Mrs. A. E. Brittain, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. M. Bevan, Wellington, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Spurdie, Stanley Street. Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Toohill were on a visit to New Plymouth recently owing to the death of Mrs Toohill’s father, Mr. Putt, an old resident of the Okato district. Mrs. Hammond, Mangaweka, who has been the guest of Mrs. Doney, Stanley Street, has returned home.
