SABOTAGE IN FRANCE

PERSISTENT CAMPAIGN OF DESTRUCTION “Combat,” a French clandestine newspaper, recently published a balance sheet of sabotage. Among the outstanding items are the following:— Forty-two Germans on a leave train killed on March 25. Eleven wagons on a train bound for Germany destroyed at Roanne. Rail traffic near Toulon interrupted for six days, when a train carrying 3000 tons of bauxite to Germany was derailed. At Dammartin, many Germans killed and wounded when a train was derailed, interrupting traffic for 55 hours. Ten munition wagons blown up at Le Mans on April 1. On the Amiens-Boulogne line, on April 17, 35 Germans wounded when their train was derailed. Eight days’ stoppage of production at a mine near Montpelier, following on sabotage. Italian aeroplane sabotaged at St Mandrier. Bridge destroyed on the Ussel-Limo-ges line, cutting off the military camp from Limoges.

Sentence of death awaits saboteurs, with no appeal, but in spite of all the enemy can do, resistance is growing, not decreasing.
